In collaboration with DTI and PEZA, AC Industrials under Ayala Corporation has established the KTM Asia Motorcycle Manufacturing, Inc. (KAMMI) in June 2017.
To date, 23,000 motorcycles have been manufactured since the factory’s inauguration in Laguna Technopark Inc. (LTI) at Sta. Rosa, Laguna. For 2021, KAMMI is targeting to build 13,000 motorcycles with approximately 80% for export to China and ASEAN countries.
Through the successful joint venture of Ayala and KTM AG, the Philippines is now considered a major manufacturing hub of KTM and Husqvarna Motorcycles. On top of this feat, it also showcases the Filipino talent and capability to the ASEAN countries and rest of the world.
“Recently, we have been asked by KTM to expand our manufacturing process to include engine building. We hope to do this with the assistance of our sister company, Integrated Microelectronics, Inc. (IMI). IMI will be assembling the engines locally and will be selling the full engine to KAMMI. We are, of course, proud and honored to take this challenge on because with added investment, we will be creating more jobs and bringing in more knowledge, thereby raising the level of recognition of the Philippines in the motorcycle manufacturing industry,” shares Dino Santos, President and COO of KAMMI.
